True eccentricity is hard to pull of as an artist and I’ve never met a duo more genuine in their art’s individuality than Indonesia’s TERUNA.
Priding themselves as The Most Dangerous Duo In This World, the duo can come off as a bit confrontational (which is pretty much the point) but behind that fierce exterior are two brothers who hold an immense amount of passion and belief in the art they create.
Their debut album TERUNATERUNATERUNA is influenced by plethora of genres – from R&B to Pop to everything in between. So much so that Teruna has dubbed its genre under T Music due to “[their] music [mixing] every genre in this world and every kind of tone that [they] want.”

Tell me about yourselves.
TERUNA:
TERUNA is a Duo (The Most Dangerous Duo In This World) from Indonesia formed by two siblings (Raka Teruna) and (Ady Teruna).

Why do you call yourselves “The Most Dangerous Duo In This World”?
TERUNA:
Because we deserve to be called like that, what we know so far there has not been a duo in music with a concept as unique like us, as great like us, and as dangerous like us in this world, especially so since we are siblings.
Turntable Thoughts:
What is ‘TERUNATERUNATERUNA’ about?
TERUNA:
TERUNATERUNATERUNA is the first album that we created. It contains 13 songs, they’re all about love, hate, sex, world, people, art, and all the tragedies in your life, that’s TERUNATERUNATERUNA. Produced by T Records (a division of TERUNA music operation limited) and all the songs written by ourselves, the genre of this album is called T Music (we named it because our music mixes every genre in this world and every kind of tone that we want).

Do you have a favourite song on the album?
TERUNA:
We think all the songs on TERUNATERUNATERUNA are our favorites. But if we have to pick 1 of them, “The ART” might be the right choice. But personally, one of Raka’s favorite songs is “Pleasure” and one of Ady’s favorite songs is “Love Me”.
Turntable Thoughts:
I want to know more about your aesthetic/look. To me, it feels very raw and authentic…and a bit intimidating. Is that what you were going for? Also, why did you choose this to be your look?
TERUNA:
Hahaha, we told you before that no one in this world that have a unique, great, and dangerous concept like us, for us that “look” is just ordinary. The “look” came up because the idea suddenly popped out from our brains, also based on our own character (Raka Teruna as a Feminist and Ady Teruna as an Eccentric).
And to be honest we always confused when we got a question like this, because all we know is that we will always make a very great art with the “look” like what we want. Once again, we told you that we are The Most Dangerous Duo In This World.

Is there anything you’d like to tell the readers?
TERUNA:
We just want to say that you all have to be a ‘GORGEOUS PEOPLE’ (the name of TERUNA’s fans), because the world needs us, the world has to be change, and we will change it, then we will all celebrate together, just love us.
Turntable Thoughts:
What are your plans for the future?
TERUNA:
Of course, we will make more great songs, music, art for this world. And for the short term, TERUNA will present several songs on our TERUNATERUNATERUNA album to as a ‘Stripped Version’ so just wait and prepare yourself.
